Parent to Parent of Georgia offers a variety of ways for parents, family members, youth and others in the community to become involved as a volunteer.
The P2P Navigator Project is a leadership program that trains parents to serve as volunteer representatives of Parent to Parent of Georgia. You can get involved with an existing Navigator Team in your area or we can help you start one. Your leadership can affect change in your community.

At P2P, we are parents and we know it’s important to use our voices to shape the future for our children! Our leadership opportunities help families develop their knowledge and skills and have an influence on issues which impact individuals with disabilities across Georgia and the nation.
Are you ready to work with groups across Georgia interested in making changes and improvements? Would you like help organizing your community around disability issues? Do you want to network with other people and do something positive?
One of the most meaningful sources of support is another parent or family member who has experience living with a disability. Parents have the most comprehensive and accurate information on their children, and they are experts. Consider sharing your expertise and knowledge and make the path a little easier for another parent!

Join the P2P Board of Directors which consists of volunteers who are parents and professionals working together to monitor the organization on behalf of all the families impacted by disability in Georgia. P2P’s board helps establish agency bylaws, and our mission and vision, as well as review financial statements, budgets, and policy manuals. The Board openly recruits new members as needed.
Georgia’s SICC advises and assists the Department of Community Health, Division of Public Health and other agencies responsible for serving infants and toddlers, birth to age three with developmental delays and disabilities and their families. Members are appointed by the Governor and include families, service providers, lawmakers, and agency representatives. GCDD, formerly the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities, collaborates with Georgia families, public and private advocacy organizations and policymakers to positively influence public policies that enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Council members are appointed by the Governor and expected to open doors to their own communities while learning about local, state, and federal issues impacting people with developmental disabilities and their families. Advisory members are not appointed by the Governor but are valuable in understanding the needs and issues in Georgia. After serving a two-year term, advisory members can be recommended to the Governor to serve as full Council members as openings become available.
The State Advisory Panel for Special Education (SAP) advises and assists the Georgia Department of Education in the development of state improvement plans, state grants, and other initiatives affecting the education of all children with disabilities in Georgia’s schools. Apply to join the SAP if you want to work with others to provide improved educational opportunities for children with disabilities throughout the state. Members include parents, educators, and agency representatives. Applications for membership are available each Spring.
